Let’s talk #hashtags. 

 Are hashtags part of your strategy? Because they should be! Hashtags are one of the top ways to get your content seen and heard by your dream clients. You can use 30 hashtags on your Instagram post and 10 on your stories. USE THEM ALL!  

·     Where to start

First do a little brainstorming and write down a list of topics and ideas that are relevant to your business. What’s great about Instagram is that when you put in a hashtag it will generate a long list of related hashtags and that will help you get the ball moving. You can also take a look at your competitors and see what kind of hashtags they are using on their photos. Another idea is to search the profiles of the people who are already following and engaging with your content and get ideas from the hashtags they are using and following. 

·     Be Intentional

Make sure the hashtags you are using are relevant to the image you are posting.  Use local hashtags if you’re looking to attract people in your immediate community or use industry related hashtags to connect with like-minded people in your target audience.  If you are deliberate with your hashtags they can set you up with a direct path to reaching your dream clients or at least give you leads.  If you aren’t intentional with your hashtags the algorithm with punish you and won’t push your content out as far. This makes it even more imperative to be purposeful and make sure the content you are sharing is relevant to the hashtags you are tagging. 

·     Change them up

Don’t just copy and paste the same 30 hashtags on every single photo. This only allows you to reach the same group of people over and over again and leaves you with little room for growth. You can keep the top ten hashtags and then change out the remaining twenty tags to be very specific to the content you are posting. A handy tip is to post the top ten hashtags in your notes page so you can easily copy and paste them on every post.  Make sure to use both broad and narrow hashtags to get the best results and reach them most people.
